Pilgrim’s Pride cutting 213 jobs in Texas, Georgia
PITTSBURG, Texas — Pilgrim’s Pride Corp. says it is eliminating 213 jobs by closing corporate offices in Texas and Georgia as part of its consolidation with JBS USA.
The Texas chicken producer said Monday the offices are expected to close within 60 days as most corporate functions move to JBS USA’s headquarters in Greeley, Colo.
Brazilian beef producer JBS SA became the world’s largest meat maker when it bought Pilgrim’s Pride out of bankruptcy last year.
Pilgrim’s Pride says the closings will affect 158 employees at corporate headquarters in Pittsburg, Texas, and 55 workers at a satellite office in suburban Atlanta.
The company says the job cuts will not affect chicken production.
