YRC President and COO Tim Wicks resigns

NEW YORK — Trucking company YRC Worldwide said Tuesday that President and Chief Operating Officer Tim Wicks has resigned to work for his former employer, United Healthcare.

Wicks, 44, held the position at YRC for less than seven months. He was previously chief financial officer of the company. Sheila Taylor succeeded Wicks in that role.

Wicks served as executive vice president and CFO of YRC Worldwide from October 2008 to October 2009. He was at United Healthcare from 2002 to 2008.

With Wicks’ departure, YRC’s operations, sales and marketing departments will report to Chairman and CEO Bill Zollars.

YRC teetered near filing for bankruptcy protection in December. But it says its business picked up momentum in the first quarter.

YRC is based in Overland Park, Kan. Shares fell 5 cents to 59 cents in morning trading.
