Elizabeth Arden, John Varvatos to partner
NEW YORK — Elizabeth Arden Inc. has entered into an exclusive global licensing agreement with John Varvatos Apparel Corp. to develop, market and distribute John Varvatos men’s and women’s fragrances.
The deal means Elizabeth Arden can expand its share of the men’s fragrance market by tapping into an already successful line, said Ron Rolleston, executive vice president of Global Fragrance Marketing.
The John Varvatos fragrance collection is sold mainly in upscale U.S. department stores and select markets elsewhere.
Shiseido Americas Corp. had been the previous licensee for John Varvatos fragrances and skincare. The company will sell the line through June.
The John Varvatos line, which launched in 2000, includes shoes, bags, belts, watches, and other products. It is a principal brand of VF Corp., which also owns brands like Wrangle, Riders, Eagle Creek, Nautica and others.
Shares of Elizabeth Arden rose 26 cents to $19.04 in morning trading Thursday, while shares of VF Corp. rose 15 cents to $83.85.
