Juan Luis Guerra organizes Haiti concert
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic — Dominican merengue star Juan Luis Guerra and Spanish singer Miguel Bose are among the artists performing at a Haiti-relief concert in the neighboring Dominican Republic.
Guerra is organizing the Sunday-night “Song of Hope for Haiti” concert at Santo Domingo’s Olympic Stadium.
Guerra says proceeds from the concert will be used to construct a children’s hospital in Haiti, which still is recovering from a devastating Jan. 12 quake.
Organizers expect the site of the hospital to be announced in another month.
Guerra is one of the artists who recently participated in a Spanish-language adaptation of “We Are the World” that Gloria Estefan penned to raise money for Haiti earthquake relief.
