Ford, Goldman Sachs are active movers
NEW YORK — Stocks that moved substantially or traded heavily Tuesday on the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Stock Market:

Ford Motor Co., down 89 cents to $13.57
The automaker earned $2.1 billion in the first quarter and forecast a solidly profitable year, but investors worried that its progress isn’t sustainable.
Goldman Sachs Group Inc., up $1.01 to $153.04
Shares zigzagged then settled higher, outperforming most other stocks, as the investment bank’s executives defended their conduct during the financial crisis to a Senate panel.
Sonic Automotive Inc., down $2.09 to $11
The auto retailer said its adjusted quarterly earnings rose 40 percent, but results fell short of Wall Street expectations.
Office Depot Inc., down $1.89 to $7.06
Restructuring efforts helped the office products retailer return to a quarterly profit, but results missed expectations and its outlook remained cautious.
Western Union Co., up $1.09 to $19
The money transfer company’s earnings met forecasts and sales rose more than expected as U.S. and Mexico business improved.

UAL Corp., down $1.85 to $20.51
The United Airlines parent posted a smaller-than-expected loss as passenger revenue jumped but profit-taking and broader market declines dragged down shares.
Iconix Brand Group Inc., up 20 cents to $18.59
The clothing maker lifted its outlook and said it will buy licensing rights to Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the rest of the “Peanuts” gang.
Tellabs Inc., up 41 cents to $8.63
The telecommunications equipment maker’s quarterly earnings beat expectations amid stronger demand for mobile Internet products.
