Bolivia nationalizes at least 3 power companies
LA PAZ, Bolivia — Bolivian President Evo Morales says he is nationalizing at leas three power companies that have British capital.
The leftist president signed the decree Saturday at the headquarters of one of the companies in the Cochabamba area.
Police are also occupying the offices of other privately held electricity companies.
Morales nationalized the hydrocarbons industry in 2006 and a telephone company in 2008. Both announcements came on May Day.
