XL Capital appoints Irene Esteves as CFO
HAMILTON, Bermuda — Insurer XL Capital Ltd. has appointed Irene M. Esteves as its chief financial officer, effective May 17.
Esteves takes over from Simon Rich, the company’s corporate controller who had been serving as interim CFO. She will report to CEO Mike McGavick.
Esteves, 51, had most recently been chief financial officer of Regions Financial Corp., a commercial and retail bank.
She has also served as CFO of Wachovia Corp.’s Capital Management Group and Putnam Investments. Additionally, she was vice president of corporate strategy, controller and head of international finance at Miller Brewing Co. in Milwaukee and began her career with S.C. Johnson & Son Inc. in Racine, Wis.
Shares of XL Capital fell a penny to close at $17.79 on Monday.
