HealthSpring shuffles management positions

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Health insurer HealthSpring Inc. said Friday that Chief Strategy Office Sharad Mansukani will no longer be a member of the company’s executive management starting June 1, though he will remain on the board of directors.

Mansukani, who is a part-time employee of the company, will serve in a new position as the board’s vice chairman for strategic planning, the company said. HealthSpring said Mansukani will be more effective in his new role in light of the challenges created by the U.S. health care overhaul.

The company also said that Mark A. Tulloch, the company’s executive vice president for its Enterprise Operations unit is adding the title of Chief Operating Office, which was previously held by HealthSpring President Michael G. Mirt.

HealthSpring spokesman Lankford Wade said neither changes will bring major shifts in responsibilities.

The company’s stock closed down 28 cents, or 1.6 percent, to $17.37 on Friday.
