Online football game signs deal with NFL

NEW YORK — Quick Hit, the company behind a free online football game by the same name, says it has signed a deal with the NFL to license its trademarks such as logos, team names and the Super Bowl starting in the fall season.

The company isn’t giving financial details of the deal, but CEO Jeff Anderson says adding the NFL’s brand to the game brings it authenticity and realism that’ll enhance playing.

“Quick Hit Football” which has 1 million users, is among a growing genre of online games that are free to play but sell extra items for small amounts of money. In this case players will be able spend a few cents or a few dollars to add NFL “legends” to their virtual teams, along with specific plays from certain teams.

Quick Hit’s deal is only with the NFL, not with individual players, though Anderson says he’d “obviously love to have” the players as well.
