West leaves Villanova, 2 join Wright’s staff

VILLANOVA, Pa. — Villanova has announced that assistant basketball coach Doug West has left the team to pursue a business opportunity, and Keith Urgo and Baker Dunleavy have been added to coach Jay Wright’s staff.

West is leaving after three seasons as an assistant. He scored 2,037 points at Villanova from 1985-89 and played 12 years in the NBA.

Urgo is being promoted to an assistant coaching position after two years as the Wildcats” manager of basketball operations.

Dunleavy played four seasons with the Wildcats from 2002-06. The son of former NBA player and coach Mike Dunleavy Sr., Baker Dunleavy is joining the staff as the new director of basketball operations.
