Graphic Packaging plant closure to affect 138 jobs

MARIETTA, Ga. — Paperboard packaging maker Graphic Packaging International Inc. said Friday it will keep 12 research and development jobs in the area after it closes a plant in Golden, Colo., in October.

Cindy Baerman, vice president of human resources at the company, said the remaining approximately 138 workers will be considered for other opportunities in other Graphic Packaging facilities. Graphic Packaging employs about 13,000 people worldwide.

Golden, Colo.-based employees who do not find another position in the company will receive a transition package.

The closure is scheduled for Oct. 31, Baerman said.

Company shares closed up 2 cnets at $3.33.
