California Pizza Kitchen, Monsanto are big movers

Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, up $1.03 at $46.90
Canadian drugmaker Biovail Corp. and Valeant have agreed to combine and form a new company under the Valeant name.
Monsanto Co., down 43 cents at $49.96
A disclosure report shows Monsanto spent $2.46 million in the first quarter to lobby the federal government.
Ralcorp Holdings Inc., down $4.89 at $57.28
The food maker has agreed to buy American Italian Pasta Co. for about $1.2 billion and has acquired two cracker makers.
NASDAQ:
Dollar Tree Inc., up 3 cents at $63.05
The company, which operates discount stores, said its board had authorized the repurchase of up to $500 million in stock.
Cypress Bioscience Inc., down $1.64 at $2.70
The company is purchasing rights to market BioLineRx’s schizophrenia drug currently in midstage development.
California Pizza Kitchen Inc., down $2.06 at $16.83
California Pizza Kitchen cut its quarterly guidance and said second-quarter sales have been lower than expected.
Affymax Inc., down $15.83 at $7.18
The company reported safety data from ongoing late-stage studies of its anemia drug candidate Hematide that alarmed investors.
LifePoint Hospitals Inc., down $1.10 at $33.04
Fitch Ratings boosted the outlook for LifePoint Hospitals to “positive” from “stable,” saying the company’s credit status has improved.
