BELL, Calif. — Just days after firing three of the highest paid municipal employees in the U.S., the mayor and other town leaders of the modest Los Angeles suburb of Bell could find their own jobs in jeopardy.

Hundreds of angry residents were expected to attend Monday’s City Council meeting to demand that four of the five council members making about $100,000 a year resign or slash their salaries by 90 percent.

If they don’t, the group Bell Association to Stop the Abuse says it will launch a recall.

Also Monday, Attorney General Jerry Brown planned to hold a news conference at noon to “disclose new developments in his probe of excessive salaries in the city of Bell.”
