PepsiCo spent $1.2 million lobbying gov’t in 2Q
WASHINGTON — PepsiCo Inc. spent $1.2 million in the second quarter to lobby the federal government on childhood obesity, climate change and other matters, according to a recent disclosure report.
That’s well below the $2.5 million it spent in the year-ago period and the $3.6 million that the soft drink and snack food company spent in the first quarter of 2010.
The maker of Pepsi, Gatorade and Lay’s potato chips also lobbied on food safety, labeling, consumer protection, taxes and other issues in the April-through-June period.
PepsiCo, based in Purchase, N.Y., lobbied both houses of Congress, according to the report filed July 20 with the House clerk’s office.
