Exxon Mobil lifts production warning in Nigeria

LAGOS, Nigeria — Exxon Mobil Corp. says it has resumed normal production after making repairs to a broken pipeline funneling crude oil through Nigeria’s oil-rich southern delta.

In a statement released Wednesday, Exxon Mobil’s Nigerian subsidiary said it lifted the “force majeure” warning — a term used when it is impossible for an oil company to cover the promised supply from the field.

The company issued the warning May 12 after a pipeline in southern Akwa Ibom state began leaking. The statement did not say how much the incident affected the company’s exports. The company also did not say what damaged the pipeline.

Nigeria is one of the U.S.’ top sources of crude oil.
