Leading carmaker Chevrolet which is a wing of GM has unveiled special edition compact car Spark woody meant for the European market. It is going to be showcased in the upcoming 2010 Paris Auto Show later this year. The side of the car looks as if it is made of wood and that lends the so call retro look to it. However, the company has made it clear that no wooden part is used in the car instead it makes use of three-quarter vinyl body wrap. A surfboard is attached to the roof which makes it look rather distinct from other compact cars in the market.

The company kept the car under wraps and it has come as a pleasant surprise for the car buyers in Europe. The company is clearly eyeing the young and trendy car buyers for this model. The look is very similar to the station wagons that dominated the roads in the times of the Second World War.

Chevrolet has not changed the engine or other interior details of the Spark for this retro model. The car is going to be branded as a car for the youth. The early reviews of the car are positive mostly though some people have found the design a little too gaudy for their taste. There are not many retro mini cars on the European market nowadays.
