CF Industries finance chief to retire Sept. 20

DEERFIELD, Ill. — CF Industries Holdings Inc. on Tuesday said its chief financial officer will retire Sept. 20 but did not name a replacement.

Anthony J. Nocchiero, 59, who also holds the title of senior vice president for the fertilizer manufacturer, joined the company in April 2007 from Merisant Worldwide Inc., according to a company statement.

He previously was a private consultant and served as chief financial officer of BP Chemicals. And before that, he spent 24 years with Amoco Corp.

The company said it will consider both internal and external candidates for the position.

Chairman and CEO Stephen R. Wilson said Nocchiero made significant contributions to the company. He cited in particular the acquisition of Terra Industries, which closed in April, including the related financing transactions and subsequent combination of the two companies.

CF industries shares rose $1.19, to $96.32 in aftermarket electronic trading, after closing Tuesday’s regular session up 18 cents at $95.13.
