Summary Box: Stocks rally to five-month highs

STOCKS PUSH AHEAD: Stocks jumped to their highest levels in five months following a strong report on the U.S. service sector and an unexpected interest rate cut by the Bank of Japan.

BUSY WEEK: Earnings season gets under way with Dow component Alcoa Inc. reporting on Thursday. Several economic reports are also due out, including the monthly jobs survey on Friday.

AMEX FALLS AGAIN: American Express was the only member of the Dow 30 to lose value, falling 1.9 percent a day after the Justice Department hit it with an antitrust suit. Visa and MasterCard settled separate suits.
