JA Solar shares rise on BP Solar contract
SEATTLE — JA Solar Holdings Co., a Shanghai-based maker of solar power products, said Wednesday it signed an deal to provide additional solar cells in 2011 to BP PLC’s solar unit.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Under the agreement, JA Solar said it would supply BP Solar with more than 100 megawatts of monocrystalline and multicrystalline solar cells in 2011.
Under an earlier agreement which began this year, JA Solar committed to provide more than 85 megawatts to BP Solar in 2010. A significant portion of that has already been delivered, JA Solar said.
U.S.-traded shares of JA Solar jumped 63 cents, or 7.6 percent, to $8.93 in midday trading.
