DALLAS (GaeaTimes.com)- Southwest Airlines the budget carrier is reaping the benefits of the acquisition deal it had signed with AirTran Airways. The airline is now going to extend its flight operations in places like South Carolina. From Greenville and Charleston the airline is going to begin its 7 flights a week scheme. As a matter of fact the airline has become popular with the fliers owing to its affordable fares. The low rates offered by this airline on its various routes have prompted the rival airlines to introduce reductions in their flight rates. However, to book the tickets at lower rates compared to others the fliers have to get their tickets booked months before their journeys. Even then lots of people opt for the airline. Southwest airline has also succeeded with the customers owing to its lucrative fly free luggage scheme.

The Southwest Airlines reported more than $200 million profit in the 3rd quarter of the year. Even the profits for the last months of the year are also good and it has made the Airline upbeat about its prospects. The Airline is doing good business for sure and now it has said there is good news for its pilots as well. The airlines pilots are getting a 3 percent raise in their salary. The buzz that $56 million will be donated for the much touted employee profit-sharing plan is also doing the rounds.

Southwest Airlines is now trying its best to woo the fliers who refer the Business class rather than the Economy class. These fliers generally book at last hour thus giving the airline the opportunity to charge them more.
