GE part of unmanned aircraft system demonstration
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — GE Aviation, a unit of conglomerate General Electric Co., said Tuesday it took part in demonstrations of an unmanned aircraft system controlled by GE equipment that can be used in commercial aircraft.
GE Aviation worked with AAI Corp. in cooperation with the Federal Aviation Administration and U.S. Army.
The flights used the AAI Shadow Tactical Unmanned Aircraft System controlled by the GE Aviation flight management system.
The effort was meant to demonstrate an approach for the safe integration of the unmanned aircraft system into national airspace.
