CBiz purchases Goldstein Lewin & Co. business

CLEVELAND — Accounting services provider CBiz Inc. said Monday that it purchased certain businesses of accounting and financial services firm Goldstein Lewin & Co. in order to bolster its South Florida presence.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but CBiz anticipates an approximately $1.4 million restructuring charge related to the transaction.

Goldstein Lewin, based in Boca Raton, Fla., provides services such as tax planning and compliance, wealth preservation and estate planning and auditing.

CBiz said Mayer Hoffman McCann P.C. purchased Goldstein Lewin remaining attest business, or its business that offers conclusions regarding the reliability of financial statements.

CBiz plans to merge its Boca Raton office with that of Goldstein Lewin and expects the acquisition to add to its 2010 earnings.

CBiz has more than 140 offices in 36 states.
