Alaska Airlines adds electronic boarding passes
SEATTLE — Alaska Airlines will begin offering electronic boarding passes to passengers in several of the cities it serves.
Alaska Airlines customers flying from Anchorage, Boise, Idaho, Denver, Las Vegas, Portland, Ore., Seattle and Spokane, Wash. could begin receiving boarding information and check in with a mobile device starting on Thursday.
The new service also works on sister carrier Horizon Air. Both are units of Alaska Air Group.
The company said it will begin offering electronic boarding passes on Feb. 24 for passengers leaving San Jose, Calif., and Fairbanks, Alaska. It will add Burbank, Long beach, Ontario, Palm Springs, and Sacramento, Calif. by late March, and other cities throughout the year.
Shares of Alaska Air Group rose $1, or 2.9 percent, to $35.25 on Thursday.
