SC coast gets new airline service from Canada
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — South Carolina officials hope new direct airline service from Toronto to Myrtle Beach will be a boost tourism.
Multiple media outlets reported Porter Airlines’ first flight from Toronto arrived at Myrtle Beach International Airport late Sunday morning.
The approximately 50 people on the flight were greeted by the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, whose representatives handed out tote bags filled with vacation goodies.
Eighty-nine-year-old Leonard Klinck and his 88-year-old wife, Myrtle, say they’ve visited Myrtle Beach for about a month each year for the past 20 years, always driving. Klinck says his children were driving this year while he and his wife took the two-hour flight.
Porter is offering twice-weekly round trips between Toronto and Myrtle Beach on Thursdays and Sundays until May 30.
