Continental to launch Munich service
HOUSTON — Continental Airlines Inc. is launching daily nonstop service from Newark, N.J., to Munich, Germany.
The service begins on Saturday, the airline said in a statement Thursday.
Many travelers to and from New York City use Newark Liberty International Airport, which is a Continental hub.
Continental will operate the nonstop daily flight with a Boeing 767-200ER aircraft, seating 25 passengers in BusinessFirst and 149 passengers in economy class.
The schedule of the Continental service complements that of German airline Lufthansa’s existing daily New York/Newark-Munich service. The two carriers are partners.
Shares of Continental, which is based in Houston, rose 68 cents, or 3.1 percent, to $22.91 in afternoon trading.
