Volkswagen sales up 41 percent in March

HERNDON, Va. — Volkswagen of America Inc. said Thursday that its March sales rose 41 percent, its ninth straight month of sales growth.

Sales rose to 22,148 vehicles, helped by increases in the Jetta, Golf and Touareg models.

TOP SELLER: Jetta. Between the Jetta sedan and wagon, Volkswagen sold 9,196 of the models during the month, a 24 percent increase over the year ago.

HOT MODELS: The New Beetle posted a 138 percent gain with 1,986 vehicles sold.
