Vt. nuclear plants says it didn’t mean to mislead
MONTPELIER, Vt. — The owners of Vermont Yankee nuclear plant say an internal investigation has concluded that none of its representatives intentionally misled the state about the presence of underground piping that could carry radioactive material.
In a 114-page report filed late Thursday, Entergy says its personnel gave incomplete answers to questions by the state Board of Public Service and should have corrected them later, but that lobbyist Jay Thayer and others never tried to mislead.
At issue is statements made by Thayer and others in 2008 and 2009 that the Vernon nuclear power plant did not have underground piping of the type that had leaked tritium at other reactors.
