Wine & Spirits Wholesalers spent $240K on lobbying
WASHINGTON — The Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of America spent $240,000 in the first quarter lobbying the federal government on labor issues, food safety and other issues, according to a recent disclosure report.
That’s less than the $300,000 the group spent in the year-ago period and the $280,000 it spent in the fourth quarter of 2009.
The national trade organization, whose members distribute wine and spirits sold in the U.S., lobbied on transportation, the budget and other issues during the January-March period.
Besides Congress, the organization lobbied the Food and Drug Administration, the Department of Health and Human Services, and other agencies, according to the report filed April 19 with the House clerk’s office.
