Corning to expand China auto parts plant
CORNING, N.Y. — Glassmaker Corning Inc. said Wednesday that it will enlarge an auto parts plant in China and build a new facility as the company expand its presence in Asia.
Corning will spend $125 million to expand an automotive substrate facility in Shanghai. It also plans to build a $40 million new manufacturing and distribution facility for the company’s life sciences products in the Yangtze River Delta region.
Corning’s board of directors approved the construction projects, which are expected to be part of the company’s 2011 capital expenditures.
Shares of Corning stock closed up 14 cents to $16.80.
