Product Recalls: slow cookers, TVs
The following recalls have been announced:
—About 25,000 slow cookers, made in China and imported and distributed by Sensio Inc. of Montreal, because the slow cookers’ control panels can overheat and melt. This poses as a fire hazard to consumers. No injuries have been reported. The company said it has received 60 reports of the control panels smoking, melting and sparking. It also received three reports of panels catching fire. Fourteen incidents resulted in minor damage to countertops. The recall involves the Bella Kitchen 5-quart programmable slow cookers, with model number WJ-5000DE and date codes 0907 or 0909. — About 9,000 Sharp 32-inch LCD TVs, manufactured in China by Sharp Electronics Corporation of Mahwah, N.J., because the neck support can break and allow the televisions to tip over.
