Oracle names ex-HP CEO Mark Hurd co-president
SAN FRANCISCO — Oracle Corp. has announced former Hewlett-Packard Co. CEO Mark Hurd is joining the database software maker as co-president.
Oracle said in a statement Monday that Hurd will also serve as a member of the board of directors. He will report to CEO Larry Ellison.
In the statement, Ellison praised Hurd’s tenure at HP and said no other executive had more relevant experience.
Hurd resigned from HP a month ago in the wake of a sexual harassment investigation. Ellison was vocal in coming to Hurd’s defense at the time.
Oracle simultaneously announced that Charles Phillips has resigned his position as president and board member. Phillips worked for Oracle for more than seven years.
