XL Re names Rochaix to head Latin America unit
NEW YORK — Reinsurance company XL Re said Tuesday it has named Philippe Rochaix the new president and chief operating officer of XL Re Latin America Ltd.
The unit of XL Group PLC said the appointment is effective Oct. 1. Rochaix will replace Stephen Outerbridge, who will take on other responsibilities within the company’s reinsurance operations after a transition period.
Rochaix is currently general manager and senior vice president of XL Re Europe’s French branch, where he is responsible for the management and underwriting of property & casualty reinsurance for Continental Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Previously, he served as chief underwriting officer for XL Re Singapore and prior to joining XL, worked at Le Mans Re and Le Blanc de Nicolay Singapore.
Bertrand Romagne, who managed XL Re’s property treaty department for Continental Europe, will take over for Rochaix at XL Re Europe.
In afternoon trading, shares of Bermuda-based XL Group slipped 30 cents to $18.81.
