Cleveland flights normal again after power failure

CLEVELAND — Flight schedules have returned to normal at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport following a lengthy power failure.

Check-in lines were long Monday morning but flight schedules were back to normal by the afternoon.

At least 100 departing flights were suspended Sunday when road salt that had built up on a utility pole caused a fire and knocked out power to the airport.

The Akron-Canton airport about an hour away estimates that it got hundreds of passengers whose Cleveland flights were canceled.

Houston-based Continental Airlines a hub at Hopkins. It allowed customers to rebook flights without penalty.
