Amgen CEO gets 11 percent boost in compensation
NEW YORK — Amgen Chairman and CEO Kevin Sharer’s compensation jumped 11 percent to just over $15.3 million in 2009, as the company continues its focus on moving a potential blockbuster osteoporosis treatment to the market.
The compensation boost came as shares dipped 2 percent to close the year at $56.75, while annual revenue fell 2 percent. The company expects a Food and Drug Administration decision on its osteoporosis drug by July 25, and hopes sales will revive revenue growth.
The AP’s executive pay calculation, based on a regulatory filing, aims to isolate the value the company’s board placed on the CEO’s total compensation package. The figure includes salary, bonus, incentives, perks and the estimated value of stock options and awards.
