Officials gather stories on historic AZ highways
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — State officials are gathering stories related to Arizona’s historic highways and want the public to weigh in on how best to tell them.
The Arizona Department of Transportation plans to research the stories and put them together for communities, schools and motorists.
The stories could be told through a Web site, traveling exhibits, brochures, booklets, roadside markers or podcasts.
Transportation officials have scheduled a May 11 meeting at Flagstaff’s Coconino High School for the public to weigh in. Other meetings will be held around the state.
The project will touch on all historic highways in Arizona that were built between 1912 and 1955.
