Recalls: Chocolate peanut butter, sliced apples

The following recall has been announced:

— Champion Nutrition is recalling 5-pound containers of Champion Nutrition Chocolate Peanut Butter Pure Whey Protein because peanuts aren’t adequately declared as an ingredient on the product’s label. Those who have allergies to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume the product. The Sunrise, Fla., company said there have been no reports of illnesses. The recalled product was distributed throughout the U.S. For more information, consumers can call 800-225-4831.

— Marjon Specialty Foods Inc. of Plant City, Fla., is recalling 119 cases of sliced apples sold in 2-ounce single-serve packages because of a positive sampling test for Listeria monocytogenes. The organism can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems.
