Chrysler idles Ohio Jeep Wrangler plant
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — Automaker Chrysler on Thursday temporarily idled an Ohio plant that makes the Jeep Wrangler sport utility vehicle after a recent hurricane in Mexico led to a shortage of parts.
Chrysler spokeswoman Tina Sullivan said the move was due to “a logistical issue” caused by Hurricane Alex, which swept across Mexico earlier this month, causing flooding and other damage. Mexico is a major source of auto parts for U.S. auto manufacturing plants.
The plant was expected to reopen Friday running a regular shift, Sullivan said.
Chrysler still has an ample supply of Wranglers available for sale, she said.
