AVX says fiscal 1Q profit more than doubled
GREENVILLE, S.C. — Electronic components maker AVX Corp. said Wednesday that its fiscal first-quarter earnings more than doubled as revenue and new bookings improved.
The company earned $52.3 million, or 31 cents per share, for the three months ended June 30. In the same quarter a year ago, the company earned $24.3 million, or 14 cents per share.
Revenue climbed 36 percent to $396.5 million.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected profit of 29 cents per share on revenue of $405.3 million.
AVX shares were up 30 cents, or 2.2 percent, to $13.93 in midday trading.
