CBS and Comcast reach long-term deal on fees
NEW YORK — CBS and Comcast say they have reached a deal that will allow Comcast to continue carrying CBS programming for another decade.
The deal between CBS Corp. and Comcast Corp. is unusual because most of these agreements between broadcasters and cable TV providers are negotiated every few years.
The agreement could head off the kind of dispute that flared earlier between the Fox television network and Time Warner Cable. That fight left millions of people wondering if they’d be able to see a college football bowl game and other shows. Only a last-minute deal kept Fox programming on Time Warner’s slate of channels.
These kinds of disputes have become more common as broadcasters ask for higher fees from pay-TV providers.
