The following recall has been announced:

—Queseria Chipilo of Passaic, N.J., is recalling certain packages of cheese products because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The organism can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and in others with weakened immune systems. The company says no illnesses have been reported. The recalled cheese products include Oaxaca String Cheese, Queso Fresco and Queso Fresco Hoja De Platano. Details: by phone at 973-685-7148 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. EDT.

—Sparboe Farms of Litchfield, Minn., is voluntarily recalling shell eggs produced by Wright County Egg and Hillandale Farms packaged by Sparboe Farms, because they have the potential to be contaminated with salmonella, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems. Eggs affected by this recall were distributed to grocery stores and foodservice companies in the following states: Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Montana, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming.
