Boeing gets FedEx 777 order, loses 3 737 orders
CHICAGO — Boeing says it has sold two more of its 777 aircraft to FedEx.
The aerospace company’s new order update through Tuesday shows it also sold a 737 to an unidentified customer. However, it also lost three orders for that short-to-medium range plane.
On Tuesday, Boeing Co. identified Air China as the customer for four other 777s. So far this year it has sold 40 of the long-range wide-body planes, which come in both passenger and freighter versions. List prices run between $205 million and $286 million, although discounts are common.
Earlier Thursday, the Chicago-based company announced another delay for its 747-8 jumbo jet. Boeing now says the aircraft, which has been plagued by production problems, will be delivered in mid-2011.
Boeing shares rose 73 cents to $66.70 in afternoon trading.
