Suspect in Orlando shooting says he was harassed

ORLANDO, Fla. — A man charged with killing a former colleague and wounding five others in a rampage at a Florida engineering firm last month told detectives he had felt helpless about being unable to support his family after losing a job at the company.

In a police interview released Thursday, Jason Rodriguez told detectives that he had been unable to get unemployment checks after losing his job. He told Orlando detectives that he was harassed at his job at the engineering firm, as well as in other jobs he held after he was let go.

Rodriguez has been charged with first-degree murder. He hasn’t entered a plea yet, but his attorney says he was mentally troubled.
