Sonus Networks narrows 1st-quarter loss, revenue up 52 percent; shares fall after hours

Sonus Networks 1Q loss narrows, revenue rises
WESTFORD, Mass. — Sonus Networks Inc., which makes Internet network hardware and software, said Tuesday it narrowed its loss in the first quarter as revenue increased.
For the January-March quarter, Sonus said its net loss was $134,000, or breakeven on a per-share basis. In the year-ago quarter, the company’s net loss totaled $16.2 million, or 6 cents per share.
Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters had forecast a net loss of 1 cent per share
Revenue increased 52 percent to $62.4 million from $41 million a year ago, more than the $51.8 million analysts were expecting.
Shares fell 12 cents, or 4.8 percent, to $2.40 in extended trading after the report was released. Earlier, the stock shed 14 cents to close at $2.52.
