Dillard’s key metric rises in June, beats Street
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Dillard’s Inc. said Thursday that revenue in department stores open at least one year rose 2 percent in June, beating analysts’ expectations for a decline.
Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters, on average, had expected revenue in stores open at least one year to fall 1 percent. Revenue at stores open at least a year is a key indicator of a retailer’s performance because it excludes growth at stores that open or close during the year.
Total sales for the five weeks ended July 3 also rose 2 percent to $506.4 million from $497.2 million.
Cosmetics sales were significantly below trend, the company said. Regionally, the Eastern seaboard performed well, while the Central and Western regions were weaker.
Year to date, revenue in stores open at least one year rose 2 percent while total sales edged up 1 percent to $2.37 billion.
