A look at Altria’s 2Q results
Altria Group Inc. reported its second-quarter results on Wednesday. Here’s a look by segment:
CIGARETTES: Excluding excise taxes, revenue decreased 5.8 percent to $3.7 billion; volume fell 10.2 percent to 36.5 billion cigarettes.
MARLBORO: Gained 1.6 points of market share to end up with a record 42.8 percent of the U.S. market. But its other brands, including Virginia Slims, Parliament and Basic, lost market share.
SMOKELESS TOBACCO: Revenue grew 4 percent to $363 million; volume, including Copenhagen and Skoal brands, increased 9.2 percent to 181.9 million cans and packs.
CIGARS: Revenue jumped 35 percent to $100 million; volume on brands like Black & Mild grew 19.7 percent to 323 million units.
WINE: Revenue grew 14.6 percent to $102 million; volume on brands like Chateau Ste. Michelle grew 10 percent to 1,582 cases.
