Product Recalls: egg noodles, eggs, dog treats

The following recalls have been announced:

—Real Taste Noodle Manufacture of Chicago is recalling 5-pound bags of egg noodles, because they have the potential to be contaminated with salmonella, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems. The company said no illnesses have been reported. The products were distributed between June 12 and Aug. 25 to restaurants and grocery wholesalers in Illinois, Kentucky, California and Washington. —Sparboe Farms of Litchfield, Minn., has expanded its recall of X-large, white shell eggs produced by Hillandale Farms and re-packaged by Sparboe Farms because they have the potential to be contaminated with salmonella, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems. The affected X-large, white eggs were packaged under the Market Pantry and Sparboe Farms brand name. To date, there have been no reports of confirmed consumer illness relating to the Sparboe Farms product. —Hartz Mountain Corp. of Secaucus, N.J., is recalling about 75,000 8-ounce bags of Hartz Naturals Real Beef Treats for Dogs because of possible salmonella contamination, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems. The bags were imported from a supplier in Brazil and have been distributed around the U.S. There have been no reports of illness in animals or humans, Hartz said.
