Alpha and Omega 4Q beats analyst views

SUNNYVALE, Calif. — Chip maker Alpha and Omega Semiconductor Ltd. reported fiscal fourth-quarter results on Tuesday that beat analyst expectations, but predicted first-quarter revenue below Wall Street views.

Alpha and Omega shares fell 60 cents, or 4.6 percent, to $12.55 in after-hours trading, after finishing regular trading down 21 cents at $13.15.

For the quarter that ended June 30, Alpha and Omega earned $8.9 million, or 37 cents per share, compared with $3.8 million, or 19 cents per share, in the year-ago quarter.

Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters expected a profit of 36 cents per share.

Revenue jumped 45 percent year over year to $85.5 million, beating analyst expectations for $81.7 million in revenue.

For the current quarter, the company predicted revenue of $89 million to $92.5 million. Analysts are looking for $92.6 million.

For the full fiscal year, Alpha and Omega earned $37.6 million, or $1.78 per share, compared with a loss of $500,000, or 7 cents per share, in fiscal 2009.

Revenue rose 63 percent to $301.8 million.
