Talbots, Alcoa, YRC Worldwide are big movers

NEW YORK — Stocks that moved substantially or traded heavily Tuesday on the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Stock Market:

Talbots Inc., up 71 cents at $15.10

The women’s clothing company posted a quarterly profit thanks to cost cutting, and its revenue guidance topped expectations.

Alcoa Inc., down 23 cents at $14.34

Revenue during the aluminum producer and earnings bellwether’s first quarter fell short of Wall Street expectations.

Avon Products Inc., down $2.77 at $31.99

Four of the beauty products seller’s executives were suspended as part of an investigation of bribery allegations that began in China.

KeyCorp, down 20 cents at $8.14

A UBS analyst downgraded the regional bank, saying it still faces major credit problems that will weigh on results for several quarters.

Popular Inc., up 45 cents at $3.50

The Puerto Rican bank announced a $900 million capital raise, which an analyst said it would likely use to acquire distressed banks.

YRC Worldwide Inc., down 6.25 cents to 57.65 cents

The beleaguered trucker said its president and chief operating officer had resigned after less than seven months on the job.

Crocs Inc., up 90 cents at $9.79

Shares hit their highest point in almost two years after a Thomas Weisel analyst upgraded the shoe maker.
