Summary Box: KKR begins trading on NYSE
LONG JOURNEY: KKR & Co. LP, the parent of private equity firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, first filed for an IPO in July 2007. It shelved its plan to raise up to $1.25 billion because of the financial crisis.
COMPLEX MANEUVERS: KKR instead combined with its European arm and traded on the Euronext Amsterdam before delisting there and trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
TAKEOVER TURNAROUND: Private equity firms suffered during the financial crisis as credit for acquisitions became unavailable and the IPO market froze. Business has improved this year.
