Nordstrom to open 2 new Nordstrom Rack stores

SEATTLE — High end department store operator Nordstorm Inc. said Monday it will open two new off-price Nordstrom Rack stores, one each in Arlington, Texas, and Cherry Hill, N.J., in the spring of 2011.

Nordstrom Rack carries merchandise from Nordstrom stores and Nordstrom.com at 50 percent to 60 percent off original Nordstrom prices. It also sells apparel, accessories and shoes from many of the brands carried in Nordstrom stores and purchased specifically for Nordstrom Rack, with most items at a discount of 30 percent to 70 percent.

The new 36,000-square-foot store in Cherry Hill will be located at the Towne Place at Garden State Park. The center is part of a redevelopment project managed by M&M Realty Partners.

A 31,673 square-foot Nordstrom Rack is planned for The Parks at Arlington mall in Texas. General Growth Properties owns and manages the 1.5 million-square-foot mall.

Nordstrom operates 114 department stores and 76 Nordstrom Racks. Shares fell 33 cents to $35.21 during afternoon trading.
